Window textile decision stress? Not necessary! Here's how to choose the right SQUID for your project

Choosing the right window textile involves more than you might think. Privacy, light control, aesthetics, UV protection... The options can feel overwhelming. Luckily, it doesn’t have to. With SQUID, we guide you step by step toward the perfect choice — without decision stress.

Step 1: Aesthetic or Functional?

Start by asking yourself one simple question:

Do you want your window textile to primarily match your interior, or should it mainly serve a functional purpose like privacy or sun protection?

Going for aesthetics?

Then choose a SQUID colour that complements your existing window frames or curtains. Our neutral tones work perfectly in modern, classic, and minimalist interiors. You can then fine-tune based on function.

Or choosing functionality?

Then let’s explore what matters most to you:

Step 2: What matters most to you?

Privacy

  • Only needed during the day? Go for a transparent version. The lighter the colour, the less visible from outside — and the more peace you'll feel inside.

  • Want nighttime discretion too? Choose an opaque version. From the outside, only a subtle shadow play is visible — ideal for undisturbed living.

UV Protection

  • Need protection? The darker the colour, the stronger the UV protection — ideal for sunny spaces.
  • Want to play it safe? All opaque colours naturally offer excellent protection against harmful UV rays.

View to the Outside

  • Transparent: Darker tones give a better outside view than lighter tones — ideal if preserving your view is important.
  • Opaque: Enjoy daylight, but with softened visibility and gentle shade.

Heat Protection

  • Choose Chalk or Bone for heat protection, due to higher sunlight reflection (3-4°C cooling effect).
  • Both transparencies do a decent job, but Opaque performs slightly better on this.

Using on HR++(+) glass?

SQUID is perfectly suitable for high-performance glazing. Its breathable structure makes it safer than traditional window film. Note: Avoid using Coal or printed SQUID over large surfaces on this type of glass and cover the window fully.

Looking for blackout?

Coal Opaque will darken the room the most, but SQUID is never fully blackout. Combine SQUID easily with roller blinds or other window decoration for an easy, stylish and functional solution. Layering also enhances aesthetic value.

Step 3: Added Benefits

  • Unusual window shapes? No problem! SQUID is trimmable and applied directly to the glass — with millimetre precision.
  • Want to print on it? Contact our SQUID application partners. Our opaque versions give a higher colour intensity — perfect for logos, patterns, or architectural designs.
    • Only Chalk transparent has the right liner to allow printing.

In Summary

SQUID gives you the flexibility to make the right choice — both functionally and aesthetically.
